Why HomeLantern is not an insurance company

Documentation can support an insurance conversation without determining coverage, approving claims, or promising reimbursement.

Documentation is not coverage

HomeLantern is not an insurer and does not underwrite coverage, determine policy eligibility, approve claims, or guarantee reimbursement. Organizing a maintenance record is a different task from deciding what an insurance policy covers.

An app status or AI suggestion does not establish a covered loss. Ask your insurer or an appropriately qualified professional what information they need and how to proceed.

What a records packet can contribute

An authorized user can export a property or job conversation containing accessible messages, explicit recorded milestones, and optional shared attachments. See the documentation guide for the steps.

The packet may help organize the discussion. It is a current snapshot with disclosed limits, not a certified investigation, valuation, or claim determination. Separately stored invoices and photos not shared in that chat are not automatically collected.

An illustrative follow-up

After a leak is safely addressed, a tenant or property team may have a report, photos, and repair discussion. They can review a downloaded packet, remove unrelated private details, and share the information requested by the appropriate recipient.

This is an illustrative workflow, not a real claim or a promise that any insurer will accept the packet. Review missing-file warnings and obtain other relevant records through their authorized workflows.

Safety and privacy come first

For immediate danger, follow the emergency guidance; do not wait for a documentation workflow. Once safe, distinguish the original observations from later summaries.

Data protection explains why exports require careful sharing. Documentation integrity describes timestamp limits. Risk reduction describes the operational benefit without turning it into insurance coverage.
